Handwoven Alpaca Rug - R24

Our rugs are handmade from the shearing to the final product using high-quality sheep, llama and alpaca wool. Some rugs feature the original colours of the fibres. Alpaca fleece has 22 natural shades ranging from black to silver, brown to champagne, and white. Depending on the design of the rug, the fibres can also be coloured with natural dyes extracted from plants, flowers and seeds. The patterns and ancestral motifs are inspired by nature. They tell us about the culture and the world the weavers live. Traditional looms are used to weave the textiles in a process that can take up to two months. Once off the loom, the rugs are completed by joining two woven panels together with a hand-stitched seam.

We carry a small, curated collection of one-off pieces in stock. Each design may have slight imperfections, that are considered a signature of the weaver and a guarantee of a truly handmade product.
